You and Jake had planned for an impromptu study date, but as you were reviewing together, you noticed Jake’s eager glances in your direction. He seemed impatient, as if waiting for something. His fidgeting and attempts to distract you with silly jokes were becoming too obvious.
“Jake, could you please let me study in peace?” you pleaded, raising an eyebrow at him.
He pouted playfully. “But studying is no fun without you paying attention to me,”
“Alright, fine. I’ll just put on my headphones then,”
You watched as his eyes widened in panic. “Wait, no! I’ll behave, I promise,” he quickly said, leaning in closer to you.
You couldn’t resist teasing him a little more. “Time to tune out the distraction,” you said, pretending to turn on your playlist.
In reality, you didn’t actually play any music, but you wanted to see how your friend would react. You observed him as he leaned even closer, his lips barely moving as he shyly whispered, “I love you.”
Your heart skipped a beat, and you couldn’t believe what you had just heard. Was he being serious? Did he really feel the same way?
Before you could process your thoughts, Jake continued, his voice soft and full of sincerity, “I’ve had feelings for you for the longest time. Happiness washed over Jake’s face, and he couldn’t help but smile as wide as he could. “Really?” he asked, almost as if he needed confirmation.
“Really,” you affirmed, leaning in to press a soft kiss on his cheek.
Any remnants of shyness or awkwardness melted away. Jake’s arms found their way around you, pulling you close in a warm embrace. You both reveled in the overwhelming happiness of finally admitting your feelings for each other.
